Tom Milnes is interested in cultures reliant on technology, cultures that only occur because of the invention/popularity of certain technologies. The specific interchange between the progress of science and our response and adaptability to this environment. The human fragility and obsolescence within Milnes’ interventions provides a level of humour and playfulness in the work.
During his recent residency at EKWC, Milnes created a electronic soundboard/ drumkit from ceramic duplicates of Euroshopper products. In a performance, the ceramic items are struck to produce sounds mimicking the products.
